Obituary of Carolyn Harter

Carolyn Ruth Harter, 79, of State College, died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at her daughter Linda's home in Olney, Maryland. Born September 28, 1931, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late James A. and Violet Ruth Hinds. She is survived by five children, Linda Harter and her husband, Ian Deveau, of Olney, Md., Rich Harter of State College, Jim Harter of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Robin Piccord and her husband, Doug, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Kerry Harter of Portland, Ore.; and four grandchildren, Koby, Zoe, Matt and Mark. Carolyn graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1953. She earned her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Penn State in 1984. She was an elementary school teacher until her retirement. All services are private, at the convenience of the family.
