Obituary of Marlene Temeles

Marlene B. Temeles, 80 of State College, died on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Juniper Village at Brookline, State College. Born October 21, 1935 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Ida Tuft Bishoff. On June 21, 1959 she married Arlan S. Temeles who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Lisanne Temeles of State College and an extended family and group of life- long friends with whom she was very close. She was preceded in death by her cherished son-in-law Jeffrey Semion. Marlene was a graduate of Easton High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Penn State and her Masters from The University of Pittsburgh. Her passion was education. She spent her career as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, instructor at Penn State and educational TV coordinator for public TV. She was always delighted to see her former students and co-workers. She loved being a part of the State College Community. Marlene was a member of Congregation Brit Shalom. She participated in many local cultural activities and volunteered with organizations from The Central PA Festival of the Arts and The American Cancer Society to hosting students from Japan. She was a life-long Penn State Men's and Women's sports fan. Throughout her life, she enjoyed travelling and spending time with family and friends. She loved art, music and attending and participating in theatre. She appreciated clever creative writing, satire and a good joke. Her husband and daughter would like to thank the staff at Juniper Village at Brookline for their wonderful care of Marlene. Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Employee Fund at Juniper Village at Brookline 1950 Cliffside Drive State College PA 16801 or to The Rabbi's Discretionary Fund at Congregation Brit Shalom 620 E. Hamilton Ave. State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
