Charles Laird

Obituary of Charles T. Laird

Charles Thomas Laird Jr. "Snuffy", 85, of State College passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Hearthside Nursing Center. Born on December 10, 1930 in Fairbrook, he was the oldest son of Charles Thomas Laird and Jeannette Emeigh. Snuffy loved to cook. Sharing with his friends and family. One of our house rules was "there is always room for one more at the dinner table". There was nothing like waking up Sunday morning to the comforting smell coming from the kitchen. Snuffy loved his family, gardening, and canning his bounties. He and his best buddies would have horseradish competitions. The hotter the better. He enjoyed watching Penn State and Steelers football. Our house was the hang out. Snuff loved long walks and flea markets. He often would walk for miles and take a dog with him. He enjoyed the company. He was employed by Lynn Henninger Construction and built many homes over his life time. Snuffy is survived by his 5 children, Jack Laird (Judy) of Centre Hall; Penny Wilson (Scott) of West Decatur; Wendy Owens of State College; Sheri Greenleaf (Steve) of State College; Lisa Reish (Mike) of Warriors Mark; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Sue Laird. His family would like to thank the staff at Hearthside for the many years they provided care for him. He was feisty to his end! Services will be held at convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Centre County PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College. Online condolences and signing of the guest book may be entered at www.kochfuneralhome.com.
