Obituary of Paul Rearick Bingaman

Paul Rearick Bingaman, 88, of State College, died Monday, December 12, 2016, at The Atrium at The Village at Penn State. Born December 25, 1927, in Thompsontown, he was the son of the late Reverend Reide E. and Miriam Rearick Bingaman. On November 24, 1955, in Blain, he married Barbara Ann Bower, who survives. Also surviving, are two children, Susan B. Laubach and her husband, Greg, of Millville and Sally Ann Monsilovich and her husband, Larry, of Oxford; a sister, Mary Ann Kleintop of Lakeland, FL; five grandchildren, Zach Laubach and his wife, Wei, Isaac Laubach and his wife, Elena, Allison, Madison and Matei Bingaman Fitz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Paul Bingaman. He was a 1945 graduate of Thompsontown High School. Paul received his Bachelor's degree in education from Susquehanna University. He received his Master's degree in Education in 1951 and his Ed.D in education in 1971 from Penn State University. Paul served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Secondary Principal from State College High School in 1985 after serving 37 years in the public school system. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was a member of several professional organizations. In his later years he volunteered for the Red Cross and at Center Community Hospital. Throughout his life he enjoyed gardening, hunting, games of all types, refinishing antiques and reading. He was a man of few words but respected by all and always ready to tease and joke. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m., on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will be at 11 am, on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner St., State College with the Reverend P. Stevens Lynn officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner St., State College, PA 16801 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
