She attended Pennsylvania State University where she studied chemistry and played drums in the Penn State Blue Band. She married Donald Way (of Stormstown, PA) in 1946. Franey dedicated most of her life to raising her family, in Pennsylvania and then later in Massachusetts. She also worked as a real estate agent in both Massachusetts and Florida. Franey was an avid gardener, and she won numerous awards in competitions in New England. Franey enjoyed music and she was a loyal fan of Penn State's sports teams and their Blue Band. After moving to Florida, Franey played hand bells in the bell choir at Boca Community Church, as a way that she could return to her longtime interest in music. Franey was preceded in death by her lifelong friend and former husband, Donald Way. She is survived by her six children: David Way, of Pennsylvania; Suzanne Lillie, of Massachusetts; Kathleen Brown, of California; Rosalie White, of Massachusetts; Laura Legare, of New Hampshire; and Daniel Way, of New York; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Franey always felt fortunate to have her faith, family, and friends. She will be dearly missed by all. Franey's final resting place will be in Boalsburg, PA. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College. Online condolences and signing of the guest book may be entered at www.kochfuneralhome.com.
