Obituary of Hayden Ray Butler

Hayden Ray Butler, 85, of Boalsburg, died after a short illness on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at his residence. Born June 10, 1932 in Bigler, PA, he was the son of the late Thelma R. Butler. On April 10, 1954 he married Mona L. Smith of Lecontes Mills, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Debra A. Butler and her husband, Stephen G. Grimes of Los Altos Hills, CA; Joseph Ray Butler and his wife Eileen of Londonderry, NH; one sister, Ruth Ann Bordas of Bigler, PA; four grandchildren, Cody H. and Jesse D. Grimes, Carly V. and Jeremy Ray Butler. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Charlotte Turner and Herschel Butler. He was a 1951 graduate of Clearfield High School, then went on to serve 8 years in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the Williamsport Technical Institute (The Pennsylvania College of Technology) before joining HRB Systems, Inc. (Raytheon), where he retired as a Program Manager after 37 years of service. After retirement, he and Mona were active community volunteers. Hayden was a member of the Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge #700, State College, PA, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #1600, and the Harris Township Game & Fish Association. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the State College Area Meals on Wheels. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
