Martha Croyle

Obituary of Martha Croyle

The well-loved Mrs. Martha "Marty" Croyle passed away September 5 in her Boalsburg home. Marty was born in Neffs Mills, Pennsylvania in 1928 to Clyde L. Hallman and Mary "Jane" Parsons Hallman. Marty was the second of four daughters and grew up on the Parsons family farm before working for the Navy, Penn State, and the US Postal Service. She was married for 53 years to Charles Croyle (1929-2003). Marty and Charles met when they attended the same one-room Mooresville school in 7th grade, and her first memory of Charles was seeing him peddle his bike down the dirt road, his necktie flying in the breeze. Marty is survived by her daughters Diane Croyle of Orlean, Virginia; Lisa Croyle of San Jose, California; and Debbie Kummer of Pleasanton, California; sister Nancy Greene of Hockessin; Delaware; son-in-law Bill Seymore; and eight grandchildren across the US and Australia who have many memories of "Grammy" as an avid reader, Pittsburgh Pirates fan, seamstress and board game guru. Even last year, she still hauled truckloads of fruit over the mountain and wore lipstick to do it. Marty and Charles were members of St Paul's United Methodist Church in State College. Viewing September 17 at 6:00 PM at Koch's Funeral Home, and life celebration service September 18 at 10:00 AM in St Paul's United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Rebecca McGee. Interment at the cemetery in Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boalsburg Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 540, Boalsburg PA 16827. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College. Online condolences and signing of the guest book may be entered at www.kochfuneralhome.com.
