Obituary of Jean Weller

Jean Weller, 89, of State College, died Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born July 12, 1928, in Muncy, she was the daughter of the late Clyde I. and Helen Gordner Hofer. On 4/29/1950 she married Harry William Weller, MD, who preceded her in death on April 12, 2003.

She is survived by three children, Harry William "Bill" Weller, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Lewes, DE, Thomas R. "Tom" Weller and his wife, Lisa, of Charlotte, NC and Robert D. "Bob" Weller and his wife, Karen, of Fort Worth, TX; and four grandchildren.

Jean was a 1946 graduate of Muncy-Muncy Creek High School. She received a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the East Stroudsburg State Teachers College in 1950.

She taught Health and Physical education most recently in Montgomery County Maryland public schools. In more recent years she was a substitute teacher in the Physical Education Department at Penn State University.

Jean was active in the Muncy-Muncy Creek High School Sports Club and served as a Cub Scout Leader in Seattle, WA as her boys were growing up.

Jean was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ in State College where she taught Sunday school, served on the church consistory and additional committees. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Monsey Chapter 481.

She traveled the United States with her husband who served in the Public Health Service for 27 years.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College.

Funeral service will be at 9 a.m., on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Faith United Church of Christ, 300 E. College Ave., State College with the Reverend Bret Myers officiating.

Burial will be in the Muncy Cemetery.
