Obituary of Robert C. Aurand

Robert C. Aurand, son of the late Robert C. Aurand and late Ellen C. Aurand (née Reeser), a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at his home in State College, Pennsylvania. Robert was born on December 4, 1952 in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Penn State University where he did undergraduate and graduate studies from 1970 to 1978 and had recently retired from his longtime career as a distinguished Electrical Engineer. For ten years he worked for muRata Electronics of North America, where he was honored with an award for his outstanding achievements in RF/Microwave hardware design. Being a valued member of the engineering community, he held several positions over his lifetime before his retirement from Locus Microwave in December of 2017 as Senior Staff Engineer. Robert was an avid HAM radio operator, a hobby he enjoyed since his youth, and could often be found tinkering in his home workshop. Robert attended Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in State College. He was a noble person who deeply loved his family. He was always known for his kindness, generosity, knowledge, compassion and a pure, loving heart. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elena V. Loukachkina of State College, two daughters Marie Ellen Taylor and her husband Rennell of Boalsburg, Lillian Clare Malcolm and her husband Lee of Pittsburgh, and one son Hayes Joseph Aurand of State College, stepdaughter Margarita B. Loukachkina and her husband Nikita Borisevich of Baltimore, Maryland, sister Susan Hollinger and her husband Richard of Harleysville and two brothers Jeffrey Aurand of Portland, Oregon and David Aurand and his wife Bernadette of Paxinos. In addition, he is survived by his granddaughter Roselyn Estelle Taylor, and step-grandson Marc Adrien Borisevich. Friends will be received at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801 on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 10 until 11am. A funeral service will follow at 11am. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery, Irish Valley, Paxinos. Memorial contributions may be made to, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 119 S. Sparks Street, State College, PA 16801.
