Obituary of Neill Rathan Roy

Neill Rathan Roy, 65, of State College, died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Laurel Center, Hamburg, PA. Born January 5, 1953, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Rustum Roy and Della Marie Martin Roy, of State College. He was preceded in death by his father, Rustum Roy. He is survived by his spouse, Evelina Francis, daughter, Simone Roy of Arlington, VA, stepchildren including Timiko Marshall and Mariko Marshall of State College, PA, grandchildren, mother Della Marie Martin Roy, and brothers Ronnen Andrew Roy of Bethesda, MD and Jeremy Roy of Tempe, AZ. Neill graduated from State College Area High School in 1971 and attended Dag Hammarskjold College and Penn State University, graduating with his bachelor's degree from Penn State in 1976. In addition to work at Penn State University, Neill travelled widely before ultimately settling back down in State College in the early 1990s. He was a fan of sports, rooting for the underdog and for all Penn State teams, particularly Penn State football. He enjoyed reading, particularly about politics and philosophy. Neill was known for his eclectic musical tastes, including the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Tony Bennett, Dennis Brown, and Ruben Blades. He was a loving and devoted father who enjoyed cooking and spending time with his children and grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018, 1:30 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St, State College. Burial will be in Graysville Cemetery.
