Obituary of Michael Yadsko

Michael L. Yadsko, 63, of Pleasant Gap, Pa. and Fort Walton Beach, Fla. died at Geisinger Medical Center on September 12 after a heart attack at home on September 10. Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Michael and Evelyn Yadsko. He graduated from Freeland High School in 1966 and attended Penn State Hazleton and University Park before joining the United States Navy. Michael served honorably as a Communications Technician from 1970 to 1973, working as a Laotian linguist during the Vietnam War. He returned to Penn State and earned his B.S. in Science in 1975. Later that year, he joined the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Md. starting as an analyst and retiring as a Senior Computer Systems Manager in 2001. He earned his M.S. in Computer Information Systems from Boston University in 1989 while working in England. He finished his working career as a Senior Computer Scientist for Eagle Alliance in Maryland from 2001 until 2003. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Elizabeth A. Yadsko, his son Ryan M. Yadsko of Linthicum, MD, his daughter Shannon M. Yadsko of Washington, DC, his sister Cynthia Kollar of Clayton, N.C., and seven nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband and father who loved Penn State and NFL football, cosmology and Doo Wop music. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 15, 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 867 Grays Woods Boulevard, State College. Burial will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association in his memory at 300 Penn Center Blvd. #602, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.
