Obituary of Charles Wedlake

Charles Wedlake 92 of Pennsylvania Furnace died at his residence on Saturday, January 1, 2011. Born in Granvill Township on March 28, 1928 he was the son of the late Charles W. Wedlake and Elizabeth Hayden Wedlake. He is survived by his wife the former Alice Moyer who he married on December 25, 1954 in State College. He was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and Bliss Electrical School in Washington D.C. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and was employed at Penn State in the Applied Research Lab from 1951 thru 1996. Charles enjoyed woodworking and was an avid Penn State fan. Along with his wife he is survived by three sons, Daniel Wedlake and wife Theresa of Port Matilda, Timothy Wedlake and wife Debra of Phoenix AZ, and David Wedlake and wife Kathy of South Carolina. He is also survived by 17grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held at the Koch Funeral Home 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Harry Brotzman officiating. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the Koch Funeral Home on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 6 until 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Centre Co. Unit of the American Cancer Society, 123 S. Sparks Street, State College, PA 16801-3915 Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
