Obituary of Mary Sobek

Mary Sobek, 98, of Boalsburg, formerly of McKees Rocks and Avalon, died Thursday, November 24, 2011 in State College. Born June 21, 1913, in Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Petras Frankovsky. She moved to America when she was 14. She was the beloved wife of the late John Sobek. Dearly beloved mother of two children, Thomas Sobek ( Karen) of Pittsburgh and Judith Sabol (Robert) of Boalsburg. Devoted grandmother of Lisa Tanner, Sean Sobek (Jaime), RJ Sabol (Mindy), Jennifer Sabol ( Jamie Beschler) and Michael Sabol (Courtney). Beloved "Baba" to Colton Tanner, Joey, Katie and Julia Sabol and Chloe Sobek. Much loved sister of Anne Deserio, Joseph Frankovsky and the late Aloysius Frankovsky and Sophie Kropiewnicki and beloved Aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was retired from the Continental Can Company. Mary was a loving, good hearted person and wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-mother, sister and aunt. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, PA, Sunday, November 27, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Chruch, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, McKees Rocks, PA. Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
