Obituary of Elizabeth Chamberlin

Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Stowe Chamberlin, 84, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2011, at Pine Castle at Brookline Village, State College. Born March 10, 1926, in Charlotte, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Bertha Eleanor Smith Stowe and Frank Tate Stowe. She married Alexander Rea Chamberlin, who preceded her in death in 2007 after 64 years of marriage. She was a partner for 50 years in the A.R. Chamberlin Mining and Machinery Co. They lived in Mountain Grove, Luzerne County, Pa. Libby led a full life with community involvement. She was an accomplished silversmith and pewtersmith and enjoyed the execution of designs and her interactions with other designer-craftsmen. She is survived by a son, Alexander Jr. and his wife, Gretchen; daughters Lyn Jackson and her husband, Jerry, and Elizabeth Chamberlin and Larry Quinn; and three grandchildren, Jeremy Jackson, Emily Chamberlin and Gillian Chamberlin. All services are private.
