Obituary of Harold E. Rudy

Harold E. Rudy, 94, of Boalsburg, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born July 21, 1920 in Pa Furnace, he was the son of the late James and Grace Harpster Rudy. He married June Gilbert, on May 14, 1947, who preceded him in death on June14, 1996. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by Donna Dennis, a friend and traveling companion. He is survived by one son, Gerald Rudy, of Indiana, three grandchildren, Matthew Rudy, of Naples, FL, Max Rudy, of Brooklyn, NY and Alex Rudy, Baltimore, MD and two great-grandchildren. Harold was a 1939 graduate of State College Area High School and attended St. John’s University. He served in the 8th Army Air Corps as a Bombardier stationed in England during World War II. He retired as a Supervisor of Maintenance and Trades at Penn State University after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Boalsburg. Harold was an avid outdoorsman, traveler and proud supporter of Penn State Wrestling. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Burial will be in Graysville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Veteran Assistance Fund of Centre County at P.O.
