Funeral Director
Koch Funeral Home and Crematory, State College, Pennsylvania (Est.1913) is seeking a PA licensed funeral director to provide burial and cremation services in our multicultural community. The successful candidate will embrace the quickly changing funeral industry with a positive attitude, an exceptional customer service orientation, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a diligent attention to details and the ability to use computer based technology. This is a full-time salaried position.
Position Requirements:
- PA Funeral Director and Embalming license
- Demonstrated ability to address the position accountabilities listed below
Position Preferences:
- At least two years of funeral director experience
- Experience in all aspects of funeral service
- CANA Cremation Certification (Preferred)
Position Accountabilities:
- Represent Koch Funeral Home (KFH) in a professional and respectful manner at all times, especially when communicating with families, staff, vendors, suppliers and business associates
- Assist in coordination of daily professional funeral service
- Consult with families to make funeral pre-arrangements
- Consult with families to prepare for and coordinate the funeral services of the deceased, including gathering vital statistics and obituary information
- Implement the Helping Grieving Hearts Heal and Because Love Can't Wait programs with families
- Coordinate arrangements for funeral services, visitations, interments and disinterments
- Direct, guide and oversee various funeral services
- Complete funeral service paperwork, including guarantee signatures for payment of services performed
- Provide follow-up meetings with families
- Arrange removals and transfers
- Perform restoration, embalming, casketing and cosmetic work. Perform preparation (prep) room housekeeping and sanitation
- Perform sanitary care and preparation for identification viewing
- Schedule grooming services based on family preferences
- Assist with cremations and verify cremation records
- Coordinate and assist in the service set-up and tear down
- Order caskets, vaults, urns, urn vaults, jewelry and prep room supplies
- Enter and track inventory processes
- Provide on-call coverage
- Assist in keeping KFH in compliance with and educating staff about OSHA requirements
- Support Koch Funeral Home administrative staff as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
