I want to follow-up on the final question from Melinda Seley, PLPC, in last week’s post. “How might it be helpful for you to name change as loss and grieve that loss today?” In our culture, we have a tendency to try to avoid painful emotions. My personal and professional experience says that in order to heal grief, you have to feel it. We can’t take on the enormity of some losses, like the loss of a loved one, all at once, but we can move through it one moment at a time. I leave you this month with a quote from Parker Palmer, “Wholeness does not mean perfection. It means embracing brokenness as an integral part of life.”
