When we look to the past, we can sometimes feel regret and when we look to the future, we can feel anxiety. But if we come into the present, the regrets and anxiety aren’t there. We have the moment – and that is all we ever really have, right? Coming into the present is one way to calm yourself. This doesn’t mean that you won’t also have pain and suffering in the moment. However, by being present, the hope is you’ll begin journeying through the pain. English novelist and poet Charlotte Bronte said, “I avoid looking forward or backward, and try to keep looking upward.”
