We all have beliefs about what happens after death. Many people I’ve companioned after losing a loved one shared stories with me of feeling a connection to their deceased beloveds. When I ask them if that connection brought them comfort, the response I repeatedly heard was, “Yes!” There is an entire model of grief theory about continuing bonds. This model encourages the bereaved to redefine but not end their relationships with their loved ones. For more information, see the book Continuing Bonds: New Understandings of Grief (Death Education, Aging and Health Care) by authors, Klass, Silverman, and Nickman. I hope you find ways to continue your bonds in a healthy way.
