I’ve had the privilege of spending retreat time in quiet. At the beginning I resist the quiet, but by the end I’m in sync with it. I often ask quiet what it has to say to me and then I listen. At times when I listen carefully, it has something encouraging to say. Other times its simply quiet. Both responses are healing. In the Catholic Christian tradition, John of the Cross said, “God's first language is silence.” I invite you into silence and quiet on your grief journey and hope you find some healing.
