Phyllis Jean Smith, 93, of State College, died on July 12, 2022 at Valley View Haven, in Belleville.
Born January 26, 1929, in Clearfield, she was the daughter of the late Rita and James Osewalt of Osceola Mills. On January 14, 1956 in Indiana, PA, she married Norman Jay Smith, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey J. Smith of Belleville and Scott N. Smith of Westerville, OH; one sister, Louise Kopcik of Philipsburg and one sister-in-law, Carol Osewalt of Burlington, NC; two granddaughters, Dr. Alison Smith of Savanah, GA, Gabrielle Smith of Oslo, Norway and one grandson, Benjamin Smith of San Francisco, CA.
Phyllis graduated from Osceola Mills High School in 1947 and attended the Philipsburg School of Nursing. She worked as a dental assistant to Dr. William Harkins Sr. and was the circulation manager for Steel Publications, a magazine about the Steel Industry, published in Osceola Mills.
Phyllis was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Huntingdon. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge and crocheting. She was an avid PSU football fan and enjoyed tailgating at the games.
Phyllis loved life and people. May she rest in peace with God's blessing.
Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College.
Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Harold Williams officiating.
Private burial will be in Umbria Cemetery.
