Obituary of Faye Louise Watkins

Faye Louise (Diehl) Watkins, 78, died peacefully at her home June 14, 2015 after losing her battle with cancer. She was born on April 7, 1937 Bedford County the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Diehl of Manns Choice in Bedford County. She graduated from Chestnut Ridge high school and in 1956, she married James Watkins who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her sister Nancy Diehl MacDonald. After high school Faye worked for the United Telephone Company while her fiancé served in the Korean war. In 1960 she and her husband Jim opened Watkins Dari-Treet in Pine Grove Mills. Faye ran the family business and was well known as the lady behind the counter serving customers for 53 years When Faye's husband joined the Animal Science Dept. at Penn State, Faye became a member of the Penn State Dames. Through this organization she learned to love the game of bridge and continued to play every week with the same group of ladies for 50 years. She is survived by her daughter Pam Wild & husband, Bob, son Randy Watkins, granddaughter Kristyn Brown & husband Matt, grandson Shawn Watkins & great-granddaughter Katelyn Brown. Also her sister Sandra Smith of Schellsburg and her brother Robert Diehl of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. A private family memorial service will be held at the Diehl family homestead. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to support the incredible cancer research being done to support immunotherapy at University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center.
