Obituary of Jacob Lee Correll

Giblin and her husband, Michael Giblin, Port Matilda Jake was born Sept. 4, 1996, in Toronto, Ontario, then moved to State College, where he grew up playing soccer and Suzuki guitar, skateboarding, snowboarding and just being an all-around daredevil. Jacob loved to be active and engaged in wide range of activities. He had a personality that drew others to him and that made things fun for everyone. His wonderful smile made him an immediate friend. He was a loving son and brother who brought people together and made them laugh. He was an entertainer and a goofball, but could surprise people with the seriousness and sincerity he often kept hidden behind the silliness. Jake was a former State College Area High School student who planned to attend Penn State beginning in July. He loved the time he spent on the slopes at Holiday Valley in Ellicottville, N.Y., and at Tussey Mountain, visiting family in Gettysburg and spending time with his cousins at Lake Wynonah, flipping and diving into the water. He was a member of STN Soccer Club and played on the Park Forest Middle School soccer team, and he went on two mission trips with his church youth group to West Virginia, where he helped build Habitat for Humanity homes. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Benjamin J. Correll, Durango, Colo.; a sister, Helen May Correll, State College; paternal grandmother Rose Correll of Langhorne; maternal grandparents Ronald and Carolyn Hankey, Gettysburg; uncles William Correll and his wife Sue, Palo Alto, Calif., and James Correll, Fayetteville, Ark.; and aunts Janet Petrisin, State College, and Cheryl Hankey, Gettysburg.
