Obituary of Marlin A. Guiser

Marlin A. “Giz” Guiser, 87, of State College, died on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Health South Nittany Valley Rehabilitation Hospital, Pleasant Gap. Born on February 15, 1928, in Ferguson Township, he was the son of the late Elmira Guiser. He is survived by two daughters, Carol L. Dale and her husband, Scott, of State College and Lisa D. Horner and her husband, Scott, of Stormstown; nine grandchildren, Emily, Abigail, Jamie and Josh Dale, Amie Showalter (Woodring) and Timothy Woodring, Ryan, Ashley and Nathan Horner; one great-granddaughter, Madison Harpster. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Nevin Guiser. Marlin served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the State College Area School District in the Maintenance Department. Marlin enjoyed socializing. He had garden plots at the farm for over 40 years, but Marlin will be remembered most for his love of attending auctions almost every weekend in search of his valued collectibles, and helping out the auctioneers. This was his true passion. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the funeral home with Celebrant Jackie Hook officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery Memorial contributions may be made to Pet’s Come First, 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
