Obituary of Albert A. Saunders II

Albert A. "Albie" Saunders, II, 54, of State College, died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born June 5, 1961 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Albert A. and Helene Lathan Saunders. Albie graduated from Central Dauphin East High School in 1979. He graduated from Millersville University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1984. It was there that he met his college sweetheart Jennifer Allen. The two were wed on August 13, 1988 in Haverford, PA. Their union brought two daughters, Alexa Lynne and Aliyah Brianna. Albie, known as Al to his colleagues, spent his entire career, which spanned 30 years, at the United Parcel Service. He also enjoyed an active life. He played football as a youth, as well as in high school and briefly in college. As a young child, Albie enjoyed riding dirt bikes and grew into an avid motorcyclist. One of his favorite rides was the Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina. Albie was passionate about wearing protective motorcycle gear and all who knew him were sure he'd never be without his riding pants, jacket, and helmet. He also liked to bowl, enjoyed taking scenic rides in his Dodge Charger, believed in good lawn care, fancied himself a fitness and health enthusiast, and was a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Along with his family, Albie was a member of Albright-Bethune United Methodist Church. A visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m., on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. An additional visitation will be 10 until 11 a.m., on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Albright-Bethune United Methodist Church, 206 S. Burrowes Street, State College. A Home Going Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Reverend Kathleen Danley officiating. Albie joins his parents, the late Albert A. and Helene Saunders, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Jennifer; daughters Alexa and Aliyah; and a host of family, friends, and neighbors. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
