Obituary of Ethel Dolores Boyle

Ethel Dolores “Dolly” Boyle, 91, of State College, died Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born June 12, 1924, in Aliquippa, she was the daughter of the late Dale and Anna Hineman Sweringen. On August 9, 1952 in Aliquippa, Dolly married Joseph E. Boyle, Jr., who preceded her in death on September 17, 2008. Dolly is survived by three children, Joseph "Jeb" E. Boyle, III of State College, Michael D. Boyle and his wife, Susan, of Wilmington, DE, and James R. Boyle of Cadillac, MI; brother, Richard W. Sweringen of Pittsburgh; sister, Florence Hineman of Sewickley; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Dolly is predeceased in death by her sisters, Betty Russell and Marianne Derick; and brother, Robert Sweringen. Dolly graduated from Aliquippa High School. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company in Aliquippa for nearly 10 years. She was a member of State College Presbyterian Church. Dolly enjoyed playing golf, especially with her husband, and gardening. Burial will be private in Spring Creek Presbyterian Cemetery.
