Obituary of Michael G. Klein

Michael “Mike” G. Klein, 75, of State College, died January 1, 2016 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born October 7, 1940 in Wilkes Barre, he was the son of the late Carl C. and Marie Helfrick Klein. He married Elizabeth Ann Ackerman, on November 27, 1965 who survives at home. He is survived by six children, Toby Klein and her partner, Dave Phillips, of State College, Christopher Klein and his wife, Janice, of Gainsville, VA, Georgia Healey and her husband, Joseph John, of Dunmore, Mickey Klein, of State College, Mark Klein and his wife, Marisa, of Middletown, Robyn Biehn and her husband, Otto, of Lincoln University, one sister, Mary Jane Shea, of Atlanta, GA, two brothers, Eugene Klein and his wife Marilyn, of Wilkes Barre, Carl Klein and his wife, Jean, of Long Beach CA, and eight grandchildren, Madeline, Quinn and William John Healey, Joseph and Mitchell Klein, Charlotte and Evelyn Biehn and Slate Klein. Mike served in the United States Army National Guard as a Sergeant. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Nicholas High School. He graduated from Kings College, Wilkes Barre, in 1963 with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. He was employed with Penn State University as Director of Risk Management, previously working as a claims adjuster for Kemper Insurance. Mike was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, State College. He was also a lifetime/Honorary member of BPOE #1600 of State College for 51 years and is a past Exalted Ruler, Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree, American Legion Post 245 and Alpha Fire Company Volunteer and a member of the Fireman’s Association. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College. Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery, State College. Memorial contributions may be directed to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801.
