Obituary of Stanley I. Pollard

Stanley I. Pollard, Jr., 93, of State College, formerly of Scarsdale, NY and Lynn, MA, died Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Juniper Village At Brookline, State College. Born December 16, 1922, in Lynn, MA, he was the son of the late Stanley I. and Anna Berko Pollard, Sr. On May 4, 1946 he married Patricia Connor, who preceded him in death on February 10, 2011. He is survived by three children, Beverly Carlock and her partner, Glenn Iannicelli, of Asheville, NC; Stanley I. "Lee" Pollard and his wife, Christine, of White Plains, NY and Holly Walker and her husband, Ted, of State College: one brother, David Pollard of Falmouth, ME; one sister, Mary Kenny of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Emily Pollard, Alex Carlock, Tara Pollard, Megan Pollard, Dan Michael and Paige Michael; one great-grandchild, Kai Ferguson. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Meredith Pollard. He received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Northeastern University in 1947. He was a Captain in the United States Army serving during World War II. Stanley retired in 1988 as the Vice President of Book Publishing for the Lindenmeyr Paper Company with over 25 years of service. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Scarsdale, NY. He was also a 43 year member of the Scarsdale Golf Club where he enjoyed bowling and golf, twice Stanley and Patricia were husband and wife bowling champions. Additionally he was a member of the Old Guard of White Plains, NY. One of Stanley's greatest joys was travelling with his wife to Europe, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 8 Carman Road, Scarsdale, New York. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery with a graveside service and military honors.
