Obituary of Ann Powers

Mary Ann (Beezer) Powers, 76, of State College, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Ann was the beloved wife of James W. Powers, who survives at home, and loving daughter of the late Ferdinand (Skip) and Mary Riley Beezer of Philipsburg, Pa. Ann was born on Oct. 20, 1939, in Philipsburg and graduated from Philipsburg High School in 1957. She then attended Erie Commercial College in Erie, Pa. She worked at First National Bank of Philipsburg and then for Dr. N.M. Tepsic, an optometrist in Philipsburg, for many years. On June 9, 1962, Ann married Jim at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg. They have five children: Patrick (Lisa Rosellini) Powers of State College; Kathleen (David Humiston) Humiston of Pittsburgh; Bridget (William Bartlebaugh) Bartlebaugh of Huntingtown, MD; Michael (Justine Reed) Powers of State College; and, Terrence (Tina Gaughan) Powers of State College. She was fondly known as "Grammy" to her 12 grandchildren: Noelle Rosellini and Nichole and Kathryn Powers; Aaron and Emily Humiston; Riley, James and Terrence Bartlebaugh; Hannah, Jacob and Isabella Powers; and Finn Powers. For 43 years, Ann and Jim lived in Philipsburg until 2005 when they relocated to State College to be closer to their children. They left behind a large circle of dear friends, who have remained close and were always a source of happiness for the family. Ann was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, NOP and many other organizations over the years. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, Pa. Immediately following the mass, friends and family will be received at a special event celebrating her life at Champs restaurant on N. Atherton Street in State College. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Moshannon Valley Branch YMCA of Centre County in Philipsburg, PO Box 426, 113 N 14th St. Philipsburg, Pa. 16866 (814) 342-7528.
