Obituary of Kathleen Ann Porteous

Kathleen Ann Porteous, 64, of State College, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Mount Nittany Medical Center following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born June 8, 1952 in Bellefonte Pa., she was the daughter of the late Peter C. MacKenzie Jr. and Mary K. (Bailey) MacKenzie. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Louise Porteous, of State College, a brother, David B. MacKenzie and his wife, Dawn, of Atlanta, GA, a sister, Mori MacKenzie and her husband, Danny Tyler, of Vero Beach, FL and a granddaughter, Caitlynn. Kathleen was a 1970 graduate of State College High School. She graduated in 1974 from Penn State University receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. She also earned an Associate's Degree from South Hills Business School. Kathleen was employed by Penn State University at the Pattee Library in State College. Kathleen retired in 2011 after a 27 year career as a Systems Specialist. Kathleen grew up in Boalsburg and lived in State College for most of her life. She was formally married to Mr. Thomas Porteous and resided in Edinburgh Scotland for several years. Kathleen was an avid reader, loved games, and enjoyed following Penn State sports teams. The light of her life was her granddaughter whom she adored. Kathleen will be lovingly missed by all who knew her especially her Aunt Evelyn Bailey, her many cousins, and friends from Penn State Library. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday October 10, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College Pa. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 11, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home with Celebrant Jackie Hook officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Pine Hall Cemetery, State College.
