Obituary of Eleanor Lindstrom

Eleanor Eastman Joys Lindstrom died peacefully at home on 9 July 2011. She was born 10 March 1927 in Whitefish Bay, WI to John Eastman Joys and Dorothy Chapman Joys. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1949. On 8 September 1949 she married Eugene Shipman Lindstrom who survives. She is also survived by their four children Karen Kimball (David) of Espoo, Finland, Mark of Memphis, TN, Jon of Fayetteville, AR and Scott (Martha) of Madison, WI and by their grandchildren Stefan Kimball of Kingston, NJ, Sean Kimball of Arlington, VA, Sarah and Andrew Lindstrom of Madison WI and by two sisters-in-law Sue Joys of Valparaiso, IN and Rosemary Manis of Gainesville, FL and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John. Among her community activities were 43 years as a Schlow Library volunteer, 25 years as a volunteer in the Gift Shop at St. Andrew's Parish, a 20-year volunteer with the Arts Festival and a long-time member of the Gamma Phi Beta Alumnae Chapter. Eleanor valued loyalty and respected rules which encouraged her children to grow, enabled her husband to thrive, and resulted in her achieving Silver Life Master status in the American Contract Bridge League. Her family enjoyed her tart cherry pies and her perennial flower gardens. No visitation is scheduled and services will be at the convenience of the family. Private interment will be in the Shipman Family Plot in Forest Hills cemetery in Madison, WI. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to Schlow Centre Region Library or to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
