Obituary of Ruth M. Tressler

Ruth M. Tressler, 92, of State College, died Friday, April 7, 2017, at Greenhills Village. Born March 5, 1925, in Penn Township, she was the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Ruth V. Auman Bohn. On September 8, 1941 she married Frank J. Tressler, who preceded her in death. She is survived by 4 children, Donna L. Tressler, Lucinda Becker and her husband Robert of Seneca, S.C., Cheryl Meyer and her husband Dennis of State College, and Jeanne Siegenthaler and her husband Robert of State College; 8 grandchildren, Dr. Erin Trimmier, Dr. Alison Springs, Steven Derr, Angie Morrison, Shannon Gibson, Eric Siegenthaler, Ali Siegenthaler, and Andrew Tressler; 10 great-grandchildren, Owen and Adam Trimmier, Tyler and Miranda Morrison, Landon, Carter, Austin, and Brooklyn Tressler, Logan and Aubrey Gibson. In addition to her husband, Ruth is also preceded in death by her son, Timothy F. Tressler and her sisters, Blanche Bohn, Hilda A. Haupt, and Eleanor M. Bohn. Ruth was a member of Faith United Church of Christ since 1960. Ruth loved cooking and baking. She was famous for her three layer chocolate cakes and apple pies. Ruth had a passion for the ocean. She loved walking the beach, collecting shells, feeling the sand between her toes, and enjoying the sun on her back. Ruth crocheted intricate lace doilies using crochet thread. She enjoyed decorating her home with the finished projects and gave as gifts to many lucky recipients. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 11:30-1 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St. State College, PA 16801. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 1 pm at Koch Funeral Home. Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grane Hospice, 106 Zee Plaza, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
