Obituary of Ruth M. Gearhart

Ruth M. Gearhart, 97, of Bellefonte, formerly of Boalsburg, died Tuesday, May2, 2017 at Centre Crest, Bellefonte. Born October 6, 1919, in Boalsburg, she was the daughter of the late George McCloney and Ella Mae Ross Mothersbaugh. On Dec. 9, 1939, she married Charles Woomer Gearhart, who preceded her on November 7, 2007. She is survived by one son, Charles E. Gearhart and his wife, Anna Margaret, of Centre Hall; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, George F. Gearhart. Ruth was a 1937 graduate of Boalsburg High School. She worked for Pattee Library at Penn State for 25 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Boalsburg. Visitation will be 10 until 11 a.m., on Friday, May 5, 2017, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Reverend Dr. Monica Ovellette officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Mills Cemetery.
