Obituary of Mabel Marguerite Van Tries

Mabel Marguerite Van Tries, 92, of State College, died Friday, July 28, 2017, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born September 11, 1924, in Juniata, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Blanche Isenberg Park. On July 10, 1948 she married Earle C. Van Tries, who preceded her in death on January 20, 1967.

She is survived by two children, Tena R. Ishler and her husband, Brad, of Port Matilda and Larry E. Van Tries and his wife, Sherry, of Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren, Allison Ishler Egli and her husband, Brian, of Mechanicsburg, Ryan Ishler and his wife, Stephanie, of Elkins Park and Rachel Van Tries of Rockville, MD; one great-granddaughter, Maia Egli. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald A. Van Tries on January 18, 1992 and two siblings, Geraldine Krebs and Robert Park.

Mabel was a 1942 graduate of State College High School. She graduated from Penn State University in 1945.

Mabel was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the State College Women's Club and the Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a volunteer at Mount Nittany Medical Center's snack bar.

Visitation will be from 10 until 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner St, State College. Memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m., at the church with the Reverend P. Stevens Lynn officiating.

Inurnment will be private in the Grace Lutheran Church Columbarium.
