Kay was born, Catharine Marie Scholey, on Dec. 21, 1922, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Clifford and Elsie (Kennedy) Scholey. Her husband, Herbert R. Imbt (d. 1989), and her brother, John Scholey (d. 1931), predeceased Kay. Her son, John H. Imbt of Pine Grove Mills, Pa., and his partner, Betsy Suhey of State College, Pa., survive Kay, as does her daughter, Carol Imbt Cooper, of Wallingford, Pa. Kay graduated in 1941 from The Lankenau School in Philadelphia, where she attended first through twelfth grades. She thoroughly enjoyed her college years at Cedar Crest College and graduated in the class of 1945 with a degree in Home Economics. While there, she worked on Crestiad (the student newspaper) and Espejo (the yearbook). After graduation, Kay worked for Lankenua Hospital, as a dietician. Following their marriage in 1946, Kay and Herb moved to State College, where he began his road building business in 1947. They resided in State College for the remainder of their lives, and after 1973 they enjoyed winters in Tucson, Ariz. From 1990 to 1999, Kay served on the Cedar Crest College Board of Trustees, and she is a Life Member of the Alumnae Association. She was a member for many years in The Antiquists' Society. Kay always loved flowers and gardening, and she enjoyed her membership in The Tucson Garden Club. Kay belonged to The State College Presbyterian Church and The Northminster Presbyterian Church, in Tucson. Services and internment will be private. A memorial service and celebration of Kay's life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, you may contribute to Centre County Youth Services Bureau, 325 West Aaron Drive, State College, PA 16803.
