Obituary of Larry Edward Anthony

Larry E. Anthony (66), of Boalsburg, PA, formerly of New Stanton, passed away on August 30, 2017 after a long battle with leukemia. He was born on May 21, 1951 in Mt Pleasant hospital, son of the late Clyde L . And Mildred R. Anthony. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by a brother, Ronald N. Anthony in 1987. Larry was a graduate of Hempfield Area High School where he was on on the golf team. He attended Penn State University majoring in Business - Administration/Finance. Larry worked at the family owned business, Howard Johnson Inn in New Stanton, assuming ownership in 1988 following his father's passing. The Anthony family operated three hotels in New Stanton from approximately 1949 to 2003. Larry was a member of the New Stanton Kiwanis Club, Business Association, and St Marks Lutheran Church, and the Nittany Lion Club. He was an avid golfer, sports fan, auto racing enthusiast, and loved yard work. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Joyce A. (Balo) Anthony; sons Larry, Ryan, and Shawn; daughter-in-laws Jennifer and Lisa; and grandchildren Jonathan, Kathryn, and Asher. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday 9/6 at the Koch Funeral Home in State College, PA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday 9/7 at 11am at St. Mark's Lutheran Church 126 West Pennsylvania Avenue, New Stanton, PA 15672. Burial will follow at Harrold's Zion Cemetery 671 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Greensburg, PA 15601. The Anthony family would like to extend our gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
