Donald "Gus" Crandall of Bradford, PA, 74, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. Donald was a wonderful brother, uncle, friend, and mentor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Kenneth Crandall of Bradford, PA, and by his sister Renee C. Harpster of Gatesburg, PA. He is survived by his brother, Larry Crandall of Bradford, PA, his sister Diane Barnes of West Palm Beach, FL, his devoted, fun-loving German Shepherd Zack, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gus retired as an over-the-road truck driver for Wal-Mart, where he earned the One Million Safe-Driving Miles award. In the 15 years prior to that, he was an independent owner-operator where he likely drove another million miles for regional firms, including Marona Construction of Colmar, PA and Cerro Metals of Bellefonte.
Gus enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles, John Deere Tractors, horseback riding, bluegrass music festivals, and family gatherings.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 12:30pm Saturday, Feb 10 at Pine Hall Lutheran Church, 1760 West College Ave., State College. Interment will take place in Bradford at the convenience of the family. Memorial Donations may be made to the local American Heart Association, 501 Howard Ave., Suite D101 Altoona, PA 16601.
