Obituary of Avalayne Ford Lukens

It is with great sadness that the family of Avalayne Lukens announces her peaceful passing at her residence on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the age of 98 years. She was born on May 18, 1919 at home in Pittsburgh to Emmett Carl and Violet (Rush) O'Leary. She was the last of her generation. Avalayne will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Donna Walley and her husband Larry Dyke with whom she lived with for the past 11 years. Also fondly remembering her are her eight grandchildren James Cerar, Patricia Nickol (Preston), Pamela Schumacher (Dennis), Mylinda Jacobsen (Ward Swan) Paul Latshaw (Lara), Stephen Latshaw (Millye), Matthew Walley, and Jennifer Brooks (Ronald). She will also be remembered by her 12 great-grandchildren Kiersta, Cody, Marshall, Myia Avalayne, Olivia, Violet, Baylee, Kara, Jake, Buddy, Brianna and Kasey. She was predeceased by her children James Cerar and Carol Latshaw as well as her husband's Arthur Lukens and Robert Ford. Avalayne was an accomplished seamstress and avid needlepoint crafter. Thank you to the 4th floor nursing team and the transport team of Mount Nittany Medical Center as well as caregivers Tiffany, Barb and Mary from Helpmates. A funeral service in memory of Avalayne will be held Monday March 19, 2018 at Grace Lutheran church in State College with Pastor P. Stevens Lynn officiating. Visitation is at 10 am, the service will follow at 11 am, with internment at Centre County Memorial Park following the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Lutheran church, 205 South Garner Street, State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
