Obituary of Joseph Tomczuk

Joseph E. Tomczuk, 86, of State College, formerly of Danbury, Conn., died Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born June 4, 1925, in Danbury, he was a son of the late John and Veronica Jackiewicz Tomczuk, On May 22, 1954, he married Catherine Callahan, who survives him. He is also Survived by two children, Paul J. Tomczuk and his wife, Jami, of State College, and Joan Schweitzer and her husband, Walter, of Avon, Conn., and four grandchildren. Joseph was a graduate of Becker College in Worcester, Mass. He served the United States Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific and China theaters. He retired from the Barden Corporation in Danbury, Conn., after 35 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, the local Marine Corps League - the Nittany Leathernecks, and the American Legion Post 245. There will be no public visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Monsignor David Lockard officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801 or to the Bob Perks Cancer Assistance Fund, P.O. Box 313, State College, PA 16804.
