Harold Crecraft

Obituary of Harold Edward Crecraft

Harold Edward Crecraft, 87, of State College, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on October 16, 2018, at his home. He was born in Warren, PA on January 4, 1931 to the late William H. and Aurelia Zoe (Pat) Thompson Crecraft. Harold married his high school sweetheart, Sarah, on May 4, 1953; during their long marriage they shared an abundance of wonderful memories. He was a great friend to many.

Hal, a 1949 graduate of Warren High School, served in the US Navy; earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University with distinction; held several jobs as a Defense Contractor including with HRB Singer and the Naval Research Lab in Washington, DC. Hal & Sal retired to State College over 20 years ago to keep a closer eye on the PSU sports teams and enjoy cultural events without the crowds of DC. There they remained active in the community. You could often see him at church, on the golf course or on one end of a fishing line.

Harold was preceded in death by his two sisters Ruth Saporito and Elaine McDunn, and his brother-in-law Anthony Saporito.

Harold is survived by his dear wife Sarah, of 65 years; brother-in-law James McDunn; daughters Deborah Crecraft and Dassi Sklan (Alan); nieces Linda Burroughs (Richard), Cheryl Saporito, and Sandra Britton (Randall); and grandchildren Rebecca Crecraft, Simone Sklan, Judah Sklan and Gabriel Sklan.

Memorial Service will take place at 1 p.m., Monday, October 29th at St Andrew's Episcopal Church, 208 West Foster Avenue, State College. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Warren, Pennsylvania, next to his parents' graves.
