Obituary of Ruth Showers

Ruth E. Showers, 77, of State College, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at her residence. Born September 28, 1933, in Boalsburg, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd E. and Nannie M. Moore Ripka. She married Kenneth B. Showers on July 19, 1952, who survives. She is also survived by two sisters, Patsy Weaver, of Florida, Betty Leslie, of State College, a niece, Bonnie Brown, of Centre Hall, and a nephew, Earl W. Ripka, Jr., of State College. Ruth was a 1951 graduate of State College High School. In 1952 she attended Adele Allen Beauty School in Altoona and was the owner and operator of the Ruth Showers Beauty Salon for 27 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Pine Grove Mills and served on many committees at church. She also volunteered at the hospital for a several years. She loved taking care of her flower gardens Visitation will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove Mills, on Friday, September 30, 2011, from 9:30-10:30 the funeral will follow in the church at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Kelley Baxter and Robert L. Rohrbaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Centre County Memorial Park.
