Obituary of Virginia Gill

Virginia Louise Gill, 85, of State College, died Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born February 8, 1926, in State College, she was a daughter of the late James A. and Meda P. Stone Showers. On November 25, 1948, she married Emery Nelson Gill, who died December 15, 1999. She is also survived by two siblings, her brother Kenneth B. Showers, of State College and her sister, Carolyn Shillings and her husband Fred, of Huntingdon. Virginia graduated from State College High School. She worked for Centre Community Hospital, Bellefonte, and Mount Nittany Medical Center as an LPN. She was Presbyterian by faith. She enjoyed knitting, upholstering, sewing, painting, and cooking. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Kelley Baxter officiating.
