Obituary of Janine Gardiner

On October 14, 2011, Janine Valerie Gardiner, 45, went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She passed peacefully from this life in the comfort of her home with her husband and beloved children nearby. She was born on June 19, 1966 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, Pa to the late Joseph Sherman Jones and Marilyn Lois Jones who survives. On August 6, 1994, Janine married Joseph Michael Gardiner of State College, Pa. Janine attended Emmaus High School where she was the captain of the majorettes. She also played volleyball competitively for seven years. Janine was an accomplished artist, seamstress and photographer. In 1990, she graduated from Pratt Institute with a Bachelors of Fine Art degree in photography. Her academic program included a semester overseas in Venice during which she also traveled extensively throughout Europe. Upon graduation she worked for Time Warner company in New York. Later she worked for a wedding photographer. Janine moved to State College, Pa in 1991 in order to pursue credentials in art education at Penn State University. In 1992, she received her teaching certification in art education, K-6. In State College, Janine impacted many young lives through her work at Nittany Christian School, ABC Children's Center, and through her tireless involvement in children's programs at State College Assembly of God. She also served impeccably by her husband's side in fulfillment of their pastoral duties in Barnesboro, PA and Torrrington, CT. Janine was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was a shining example and inspiration to all who knew her. In spite of her four year battle with ALS, Janine's faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ was unshakeable. She always remained active in the care of her family and the management of the daily affairs of her household. With God's help, she was always calm and peaceful. She possessed a kind, gentle and caring heart. She was always available to her family and friends. Janine is survived by her four beloved children: Kara Elizabeth, October 21, 1997; Joseph Benjamen, February 11, 2001; Daniel Christopher, September 25, 2003 and Anna Rose, August 29, 2005. Also surviving is her brother, Joseph J. Jones, 46, of Columbia, Maryland. Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 17 from 5-8pm at State College Assembly of God, 2201 University Dr. ext. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the State College Assembly of God with the grave side ceremony immediately following. Janine's husband, Rev. Joseph M. Gardiner, will officiate. Rev. David Janssen will assist. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College. Online condolences may be made at www.kochfuneralhome.com.
