Obituary of Matthew T. Burns

Matthew T. Burns, 34, of Spruce Creek, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on December 20, 2020, due to a multiple vehicle accident on I-80. Matthew was born in State College on July 21, 1986, a son of Marlin D. and Patricia L. (Wilson) Burns of Warriors Mark, who survive. He was a 2005 graduate of Centre Country Christian Academy and 2007 graduate of Penn College, Williamsport, with a double associate degree in building construction technology and masonry. On October 8, 2011, in Whitewater, Wisconsin, he married the former Emily M. Sieger who survives, along with son Tyler J., 5, and daughters Clara E., 3, and Amelia R., 1. He is also survived by his brother Michael T. Burns and his wife Jerilee of Warriors Mark and sister Jenna L. Penley and her husband Nathan of Clarks Summit, along with many nieces and nephews. He owned his own construction company, Burns-Built Construction, and enjoyed the challenge of turning difficult renovation projects into works of beauty. For the past two years, Matthew has also been providing maintenance services for Camp Kanesatake in Spruce Creek. He was a faithful member of the Port Matilda Baptist Church where he served the Lord for many years as a deacon. Matthew was a loving friend, son, brother, husband, and father who cherished his wife and children. He had a zest for life and was always in constant motion, even as a child. To know him was to love him. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the First Baptist Church, 539 Jacksonville Road, Bellefonte, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, at the First Baptist Church, Bellefonte, with Rev. Ryan Smith and Rev. Steven Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery, Halfmoon Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pregnancy Resource Clinic, 423 S Pugh Street, State College, PA. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College. Online condolences and signing of the guest book may be entered at www.kochfuneralhome.com or visit us on Facebook.
