Obituary of Margaret Howarth

Margaret Beglin Howarth, 70 of State College, died Monday, November 28, 2011, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born September 6, 1941 in Beaver, she was the daughter of the late B. Wayne and Elsie Harrington Beglin. She married Gifford A. Howarth who survives, they were happily married for forty three years. She is survived by two children, Gifford W. Howarth and his wife, Shelia, of Lewisburg and Douglas J. Howarth and his wife, Nicolle Mitchell, of Torrence, CA. She is also survived by a sister, Phylis Orachena and her husband, Andrew and a brother, Bruce Beglin and his wife, Edith, all of Beaver. Margaret graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Geneva College and then continued to receive a Master's Degree in Adult Social Work from Elmira College. She was also a member and volunteer of OLLI , the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Penn State. She was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Ruth Circle. She was a volunteer at her church and with the American Cancer Society. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church at 109 McAllister St., State College with the Rev. Eric Shafer officiating. Burial will be in Beaver Cemetery, Beaver. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Centre Unit at 123 South Sparks St., State College, PA 16801.
