Obituary of Andrew Lee Angle

Andrew Lee Angle, 45, of State College, PA, died Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born September 2, 1975, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of Gary Lee and Bonnie Lee Fox Angle. On December 9, 2011, he married Katherine (Kathy) Garren, with whom he had shared his life since 2003.

In addition to his wife and parents, Andrew is also survived by his 8-year old daughter, Zoe Garren Angle; his paternal grandmother, Genevieve Angle; his brother Gregory Angle and his wife Mary Angle and their two children, Gary and Grace; his brother Mitchell Angle and his wife Sharyn Angle and their two children, Calvin and William; and many extended family members.

Andrew graduated from James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, in 1994, where he excelled in sports, was salutatorian of his class, and made lifelong friends. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University in 1999 and later earned a Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from Northeastern University.

After graduating from Penn State, Andrew moved to Boston, Massachusetts. He worked in the computer hardware industry for over a decade, where he made friends that became his Boston family. In 2003, Andrew met Kathy (PSU Alumna, 2000) in Boston at a Penn State Alumni event. In 2010, he moved with Kathy to State College, PA, to be closer to his brothers who both live in the area, and he began work in software development in industry before transitioning to Penn State.

Andrew's life revolved around his family — immediate and extended — and friends who he considered family. He enjoyed going to Penn State football games, traveling with his family, reading cookbooks and trying new recipes, and riding bikes with his daughter Zoe. His smile was contagious, and he made new friends wherever he went.

A private service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021, for immediate family due to COVID-19 restrictions. The family plans to hold a larger celebration of his life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a college fund has been set up for Andrew's daughter Zoe: https://gofund.me/72fb1b0a.
