Obituary of Christina W. Ammerman

Christina W. Ammerman, 78, of State College, died Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born November 2, 1942, in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Nevin Francis and Lois Montgomery Wilson Fisher.

On August 26, 1961, Christina married Duane L. Thomas, who survives. She married James Ammerman in June, 1988. James preceded her in death on May 23, 2007.

She is survived by two children, Blair E. Thomas and his fiancée Lori Warner of Frederick, MD, and Blaine L. Thomas and his wife Patty of Lebanon; one sister, Jeanie Flournoy of Lewisburg; and six grandchildren, Andrew, Brianna, Aiden, Kayla, Glenn and Rachel.

Christina earned her bachelor's degree from Penn State University in Individual and Family Studies with emphasis on Adult Development and Aging in 1982. She worked as a Social Worker for Children and Youth Services in Hollidaysburg, PA.

She was a volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Society/America Core Volunteers Program in Altoona, PA.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College with Jackie Naginey Hook officiating.

Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery.
