Obituary of Robert Jordan

Robert Earl Jordan, 84, of State College, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born October 26, 1927 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late George B. and Sarah Allbert Jordan. He married M. Esther Barnhart on April 7, 1951 who preceded him in death on April 16, 2009. He is survived by one son, Daniel P. Jordan and his wife, Diane, of State College. He is also survived by five sisters and three brothers: Marie Bloom, of State College; Rita Schager, of Aurora, OH; Evelyn Baylson, of State College; Theresa Siwulich and her husband, John, of Centre Hall; Frances Knisely, of Penns Valley; Edward Jordan and his wife, Marilyn, of State College; George Jordan and his wife, Polly, of Fleming; David Jordan and his wife, Julie, of Milroy; a sister in law: Albina Jordan, of Camden, NJ; two grandchildren: Tony and Sam and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Leo, Frederick, and Charles Jordan and Elsie Jordan Barnhart. He graduated from Boalsburg High School. He was employed by Howard T. Swank Tile Contractor for forty five years as a tile setter. He was an air traffic controller during the Berlin air lift 1945-1948. Robert was a member of the Potters Mills VFW and American Legion Post #245. He enjoyed hunting, fishing trips to Canada and gardening. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ann Graves officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity / Centre County at 1155 Zion Road, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
