Obituary of Elaine Corby

Elaine Corby, 80, of Boalsburg, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born November 16, 1941, in Doncaster, England, she was the daughter of the late Charles Frederick and Kathleen Tucker White. On Sept. 22, 1962 she married Graham Corby, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Simon Corby and his wife, Michelle, of State College; two grandchildren, Emma and Peter Corby, both of State College.

Elaine was employed as the Executive Secretary for the Mayor of the Borough of Beverley when she resided in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. She had a long career in secretarial and administrative work with Reckitt and Colman and International Chemical Industries.

She was a great homemaker, enjoyed entertaining and welcoming guests to her home. She had a passion for history, family genealogy, music, art, and literature. She wrote extensively throughout her life, creating original poetry and fiction. At school she was known as the girl with her head in a book! She loved hiking, the outdoors and nature, and one of her favorite places was the English Lake District. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren which brought her to the United States in 2005. She became a proud US citizen in 2010, while always connected to her English roots.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
