Obituary of Camilla G. Pello

Camilla Georgette Pello, 89, a resident of PA Furnace and formerly of Warriors Mark, PA, died on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Centre Care. Born September 1, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Frank and Georgette Stahl Kraus. On July 26, 1954 she married Anthony Joseph Pello, who preceded her in death on August 26, 2018.

Camilla is survived by six children: Richard Anthony Pello of San Diego, CA, Joseph Charles Pello, of Mexico, Janet Camille Nelson and her husband Vincent, of State College, Anthony Joseph Pello and his wife Marjorie, of Harleysville, Frank Stephen Pello, of Tyrone, and Julie Ann Degliomini and her husband Anthony, of PA Furnace.

Camilla was of the Catholic Faith and in addition to her parents was preceded in death by one brother Warner Kraus, and one sister Jeanette Kraus.

She is survived by 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Murrell Dobbins Vocational Technical High School in Philadelphia, PA. During the early years of her marriage she enjoyed spending time with family & friends in Browns Mills, New Jersey enjoying the lazy days of summer at Mirror Lake. She enjoyed travelling with her mom, sister and girlfriends and loved going back and forth to visit her grandkids.

Reading was a favorite pastime for her – she could easily read 2-3 books at one time. She loved beach vacations, family picnics, Whipple Dam and made the ultimate best potato salad and, during the holidays – homemade Spaetzle! She enjoyed attending plays, musicals and had a special fondness for the Celtic dancers and Downton Abbey. She was definitely a "people person" but she loved her "me" time too – Ironing while watching Monday Night Football was a night to cherish for her.

If she ever had a bad day, she never showed it. She was kind and personable to everyone she met and welcomed them with open arms. If you needed an ear to listen to you, she provided it, and if you needed advice, she gave it. She didn't sugar-coat, but somehow her delivery was always soft and genuine. Camilla was a true lady!

When her six kids were all young, they enjoyed listening to her famous one-liners: To keep peace in the family it was "We'll see." If we were showing too much of our stubborn side, she said "Roll with it, or be rolled on!" Too much back talk, "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all!" Not willing to try something – "You can't judge a book by its cover."

When her children were grown, she decided to enter the business world and was employed as the Executive Secretary for The Society of Architectural Historians in downtown Philadelphia where she worked for 20 years until retirement. She loved venturing to a new state each year, learning about its history and meeting/building relationships with their members. She and her boss Paulette later became life-long best friends – corresponding all thru retirement years.

Shortly after she retired, she and her husband Anthony moved to Warriors Mark, PA in 1993 – where they enjoyed the peace and quiet of the country with their dog, Elsa.
